Dear Colleagues and Friends,

 

We are very excited to be bringing you some great news! As you are all
aware, many departments across the state have been struggling for some
time to provide necessary personnel and to address issues regarding
volunteer recruitment and retention. We have been working with staff
from the Emergency Response Corps for the past year to implement this
program and its benefits in our great state. We have received
confirmation that opportunities to participate in the Emergency Response
Corps Program will once again be available for Vermont and New Hampshire
fire departments, ambulance services, and other non-profit public
agencies and organizations. The Emergency Response Corps is an
innovative AmeriCorps program designed to help emergency service
departments address issues with staffing, volunteer recruitment and
retention, public safety and prevention education endeavors. The ERC has
been operational for the past several years with great success. By
taking the time to complete the attached application you may be selected
for the placement of an ERC AmeriCorps Member to serve at your
organization/department for the Fall of 2011. This is a great
opportunity for organizations/departments that could use extra manpower
and help with volunteer recruitment and retention. Current host sites
report remarkable benefits to their departments and communities. ERC
AmeriCorps Members have been working very hard on projects for the
departments they serve and have made a real difference through their
efforts. We hope some of you will join this list of participants. 

 

Attached you will find information about the ERC, conference call
information, and a Request For Proposal (RFP) for your review. Please
complete this form if you are at all interested in participating in our
Emergency Response Corps, AmeriCorps program. Please complete and return
it to Steve Niles at the address on the accompanying RFP no later than
March 31, 2011. We strongly urge you to complete this form if you are
even remotely considering having an Emergency Response Corps AmeriCorps
Member.

helpful to contact those who are already participating in New Hampshire.
The current ERC host sites will be happy to tell you about how the
