An interesting article appeared in Ed Week yesterday:
http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/LeaderTalk/2009/12/learning_by_accident_or_design.html
You can view the NH school standards relative to this topic by visiting the ICT Literacy Toolkit at: www.nheon.org/ictliteracy. The short answer to the question raised by the Ed Week article is that NH requires ½ high school course credit or demonstrated proficiency AND requires that tech / ICT literacy be addressed within the context of core subject areas throughout all K-12 grades. In addition, students should be enabled to create digital portfolios of their work in all grades, and those portfolios should be assessed by the end of 8th grade to ensure that students have acquired a foundational level of ICT literacy.
Regards,
Cathy
