I am delighted to share the following news with you. This information
can be particularly useful if you are considering applying for ARRA
grants.
In an unprecedented collaborative effort, between the State Educational
Technology Directors Association (SETDA) and the National Association of
State Title I Directors (NASTID), these two entities have jointly
published two documents, Leveraging Title I & Title IID: Maximizing the
Impact of Technology in Education

for Schools

urceguide_92209.pdf> . These documents highlight the need for
collaboration among educators to provide the very best educational
opportunities for all students. Federal programs often work in silos,
however, SETDA and NASTID have broken barriers and shared resources to
help educate both groups on each other's programs and the educational
technology tools available to teachers and students. The documents and
press release are available for download at

I strongly encourage you to review these documents and coordinate a
meeting with your Title I colleagues so that you are able to work
together to effectively to provide resources to create 21st Century
Learning environments. In addition, SETDA and NASTID have also created
an online collaborative site to provide an avenue for educators to
continue the discussion and provide additional examples available at

rships_092409.pdf> report provides general background information on
the power of technology in the classroom including research, rational
and examples with data on increased student achievement levels.
The Technology Tools Resource Guide provides definitions of key
technology components and relevant examples, where appropriate as a
glossary for educators. The guide also presents essential implementation
and infrastructure considerations that decision makers should think
about when implementing technology in schools to help close the
achievement gap and best prepare our students for a 21st century
workforce. Technology enhances administrative, teacher and student
capabilities and performance, especially for those students who lack
access to technology outside of school.
Regards,
Cathy
