School librarians may be interested in the following opportunity with
the ISTE SIGMS:

 

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity which allows you to
interface with school librarians at national and international levels?
Would you enjoy working at the forefront of promoting the use of
educational technologies with school librarians?  Do you want to take an
active role in working with ISTE?  The ISTE Media Specialists SIG
(SIGMS) Executive Committee is looking for SIGMS members who would like
to run for the office of SIGMS Chair-Elect.

 

The Chair-Elect will hold office during the 2010-11 school year and,
then, assume the position of SIGMS Chair at ISTE 2011 for a term of two
years.  The position involves a time commitment of 10 - 15 hours per
month.  See http://sigms.iste.wikispaces.net/election for more
information about the position and to apply.  Self-nominations are
encouraged.  The deadline to enter is Sept 30th.   The SIGMS Executive
Committee will review all nominations to build a slate of candidates.
The election will take place in Mid-October and the winner will
immediately assume the role of Chair-Elect.  

 

You may remember that SIGMS held an election of Chair during regular
elections in the Spring.  The winner at that time, Gwyneth Jones, also
won a seat as a member of the ISTE Board and, so, withdrew her interest
in this position in order to focus on the Board position.  We are
holding an election at this time to fill the vacated position.

SIGMS Chair, I can highly recommend this volunteer experience.  It
affords many opportunities to expand your PLN, to interface with
cutting-edge technologies, and to gain experiences which can inform your
