ITEM: New Guide from iNACOL: Planning and Designing for K-12 Next Generation Learning

The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) and Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) have published a toolkit for K-12 district, charter, and school leaders to use in the very early stages of conceptualizing and designing next generation learning programs, initiatives, and schools. RETHINK: Planning and Designing for K-12 Next Generation Learning
<http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=8af80dcfbc1bee4ce260df406522e4052b3a309e70dd74001488fc008475269c> guides educators as they identify the pathway to change that best fits their community and helps them figure out their own goals in blended, personalized, and competency-based learning. It organizes the top resources - publications, websites, and tools - available today into four key areas: understanding next generation learning models; planning for and managing change; designing next generation learning opportunities; and engaging the planning team and stakeholders in the process.
The toolkit complements two recent publications from NGLC. The first is a white paper that lays out a conceptual framework for the six dimensions required of next generation learning<http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=8af80dcfbc1bee4c384495ab654d45e1121eb9abcd6a88d2d8b101ba74e4e6f6> and includes current examples of how schools are activating each of those dimensions. The second is a set of profiles of NGLC-funded breakthrough school models<http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=8af80dcfbc1bee4ca3ee3335f8c66910f4c8a9264f07278d87061bf26a5b3685>. It also builds upon iNACOL's New Learning Models work<http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=8af80dcfbc1bee4c92cbb571410ffa128ee138f6a8fbdb6cbd1261fcd83fed78>, which is designed to accelerate the development of effective blended, online, and competency-based models of learning.
