ITEM: ISTE needs your help to refresh the ISTE Student Standards

The first draft of the new ISTE Standards for Students<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431822:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r> was released this month and not surprisingly, we got a lot of great feedback from passionate educators weighing in on the proposed changes. One common refrain was from educators who said they love the current student standards and saw no need to change them. That is, until they read the draft of the refreshed version. Said one respondent:

I had initially responded with a request to "stop the presses - we don't need the changes!" NOW I'm glad you've embarked on these changes. NOW I see that we will embrace them and realign our curricular resources because the overall focus is so much better representative of our students' lives and needs. I like where this is headed!"

Student voice and choice has emerged in the refresh process<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431823:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r> as one element lacking in the current standards. So that got us thinking of ways to encourage student input in the refresh process. We're hoping you can help us do that by leading a refresh session specifically for students. If you're interested, contact Sarah Stoeckl<mailto:sstoeckl at ISTE.ORG>, ISTE's senior project manager for the Standards Department. She can help you set up a session for students or other educators.
No time to hold a session? Below are several other ways you can help out.

Read the draft of the student standards<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431822:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r> and fill out this survey<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431824:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r> to give us your feedback and share the link far and wide.

Let ISTE know what resources you'll need to understand and implement the standards by filling out this survey<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431825:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r>.

Tell ISTE how you, your school, or your district are using the standards. Share your story<http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/79431826:Tj_XrECNB:m:1:2906822613:2CF4DA9762F49B332A1A9A21B016E7CC:r>, and it might be published!
